Weed Watchers Workshop - Is that plant supposed to be there?
Back by popular demand, learn how to identify invasive aquatic plants, understand how they spread, and what to do if you find them. Join Jim Straub and Tim Flannery from the MA Department of Conservation & Recreation Lakes & Ponds Program for this two hour class to help us maintain the health of Brewster’s ponds! The session teaches participants to monitor their ponds for the presence of invasive plants and to develop a removal plan if an infestation is found. If a pioneer infestation of invasive plants is identified early, there is a greater chance that the plant can be eradicated before it becomes established in the lake or pond. Once invasive plants are established they are almost impossible to remove and very expensive to control. Invasive plants spread rapidly and form dense mats that can make boating, fishing and swimming impossible. Participation is free, but limited to 24; participants are encouraged to bring plants (rooted or floating) from their own ponds. Register at https://tinyurl.com/y66j94sa.
