Cape Symphony presents Fantastique
The Cape Symphony Orchestra will perform “Fantastique” at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center on November 16 & 17, 2024. The orchestra will be conducted by Alyssa Wang, a candidate to become Cape Symphony’s next Music Director. This season’s Masterpiece performances will each be led by a candidate for the Music Director position at Cape Symphony. The repertoire features warhorses from the Western canon chosen to showcase the talent and skill of these fine conductors. “Fantastique” will feature Hector Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique,” Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto, and the East coast premiere of Jessica Meyer’s Turbulent Flames. Award-winning pianist Martina Filjak, widely acclaimed for her passionate playing, technical mastery, and magnetic stage presence, will play Grieg’s enchanting Piano Concerto. “Pictures at an Exhibition” will be performed Saturday, November 16 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, November 17 at 3:00 PM at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis. Concertgoers are invited to a Q&A session with guest conductor and Music Director candidate Alyssa Wang one hour before performance time.
