Cape Symphony: A Salute to Service
This concert is a powerful tribute to veterans, honoring their courage and sacrifice through exceptional music that embodies the patriotic spirit. Our stirring program opens with Dudley Buck’s 1879 Festival Overture on The Star-Spangled Banner followed by Morton Gould’s rousing An American Salute. Marine veteran Mark Paradis of Taps for Veterans will sound Reveille before Maurice Ravel’s elegant Le Tombeau de Couperin, and Taps before Barber’s deeply moving Adagio for Strings. After an intermission, Aaron Copland’s grand Symphony No. 3 brings the afternoon to a triumphant, hopeful resolution. Experience a concert filled with reflection, remembrance, and reverence for those who have served. Ticketholders are invited to our "Musically Speaking" talk about the concert program. The talk begins one hour before the concert and will be led by George Scharr, Cape Symphony Orchestra trombonist from 1989 - 2025.
