Brewster Ladies' Library At the Crossroads: Three-Part Series to Focus on Brewster's Environmental Challenges
The public is invited to a three-part series of programs this winter that will offer insight and a discussion opportunity on environmental topics of local importance. Sponsored by Brewster Conservation Trust in partnership with the Brewster Ladies’ Library Association’s Discovery & Enrichment Series, the programs will be held January 15, February 19, and March 26. All are free and will run from 2:00–3:30 p.m. at the Brewster Ladies’ Library. The first program will explore considerations for mid-Cape communities adapting to shifting shorelines. A showing of the film No Refuge will be followed by a panel discussion with filmmakers Tim Wood and Jan Crocker; coastal geologist Mark Borrelli from the Center for Coastal Studies; and Chris Miller, Director, Brewster Department of Natural Resources. On February 19, the focus will be on water quality in Brewster, including the status of and threats to the town’s ponds and drinking water supply. The featured speakers will be Kimberly Crocker Pearson, Chair, Brewster Natural Resources Advisory Commission and member of Brewster’s Water Resources Task Force, and Dr. Laurel Schaider, a senior scientist at the Silent Spring Institute. The final program on March 26 will talk about the role of trees and forests in Brewster’s past, present, and future. To register, please go to https://www.brewsterladieslibrary.org/calendar. This program will be offered in person and via Zoom. For more information, contact BLLAEvents@BrewsterLadiesLibrary.org or visit https://brewsterconservationtrust.org/walks-and-talks/.
