Brewster Ladies' Library A Reading by the John Hay Studio Writers
The John Hay Writing Studio sits nestled in the trees at the highest elevation in Brewster. Once the writing studio of nature writer John Hay, it recently opened as a daytime retreat for Cape Cod writers looking for solitude and silence in which to create. Over the course of 14 weeks this summer, 12 writers took part in a pilot program to test the feasibility of a long-term writers’ retreat in Hay’s former studio. Now those writers are gathering to share some of what they wrote while in residence.
Join Cape Cod poets, fiction, and non-fiction writers as they read some of their most recent material. You’ll hear from authors with multiple publications; first-time manuscript writers; and poets, some familiar and some new. You’ll also hear briefly how Brewster Conservation Trust and its volunteers transformed the long-empty studio into a place of quiet comfort.
This program is offered through the Brewster Conservation Trust. Light refreshments will be served.
