SUMMARY:The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents Nature’s Night Celebration & Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History honors the 2024 Nature's Ambassadors. \n\n \n\nIn 2023\, Massachusetts recorded 1\,145 pairs of piping plovers nested a 500% increase over 1986 when they were added to the endangered and threatened species of wildlife. It was the work of Diane Boretos and Elizabeth Kouloheras that led to this turnaround. \n\n \n\nMichael Lach has redefined land conservation to land restoration\, restoring unused cranberry bogs to their original natural state that are teeming with spawning herring\, amphibians\, waterfowl\, and wild seeds of endangered\, native wetland plants springing back to life. \n\n \n\nOn display at the event will be the Thornton W. Burgess 150th Birthday Commemorative Quilt. Nature's Night attendees will have an opportunity to purchase a last chance ticket to win this beautiful quilt created by Master Quilters Liz Henry & Shirley Ladetto of Bourne using historic 1930s Ruby McKim patterns featuring beloved Burgess characters. The winner will be selected during the evening and the proceeds will benefit the Thornton W. Burgess Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen in East Sandwich.
