DESCRIPTION:On July 20\, 1969\, the first humans stepped foot on the Moon. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing and a momentous undertaking of space exploration. Join NASA Solar System Ambassador Marie Kesten Zahn for a look into the Apollo mission program\, the biggest rocket ever launched\, and find out what makes our Moon so special! Following the presentation there will be an art project: Making Moon sand!\n\n \n\nMarie is an archaeologist\, artifact conservator\, and space scientist. She serves as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA/JPL. She grew up on Cape Cod\, studied\, traveled\, and worked all over the world before returning to the Cape to work as an underwater archaeologist. Marie believes that encouraging people to explore the STEM fields and providing opportunities to experience real world applications of science is the key to inspiring the next generation of scholars.
