DESCRIPTION:Join Cape Cod naturalist\, Phil Kyle for his program\, Winter Birds: Cape Cod's Year-Round Residents.\n\nSurvival in harsh weather makes special adaptations for winter conditions unbelievable! For instance: available food\, if found\; hibernating to survive the cold\; sleeping locations\; and insulating behavior from the cold. \n\nJoin Phil to learn about these amazing cold weather adaptations that our year-round birds possess and discover how cold is too cold for birds\, do birds get cold at night\, and do birds use birdhouses in the winter? It's genes over weather extremes!\n\nPhil's mission has always been to inform people about the awesome wonder of the natural world. Since he retired in 2012 he has written a column on Birding for the Cape Cod Times Newspaper\, presented for Libraries\, Garden Clubs and Schools. Phil had also taught Biology and Anatomy/Physiology at the High School level\, worked as a naturalist on Whale-watching boats for three summers\, worked as the Head Naturalist at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History and Green Briar Nature Center\;  He was Director of Education\, South Shore Natural Science Center\;  he has been an Interpretive Park Ranger for the Cape Cod National Seashore and has actively birded for over 40 years. He was a Bio Major and graduated from Cornell University.  He now works summers on the Barnstable Harbor Ecotour pontoon boat as head naturalist and volunteers as a docent at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History winters.
