SUMMARY:Brewster Ladies' Library presents A Reading of the Play "Surviving Mr. Emerson"
DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebration of Women's History Month! Set in the 1840s\, this play is a love story\, and revolution. Margaret Fuller\, the first foreign correspondent in America\, spoke and read 5 languages. Her book\, Woman in the 19th Century\, was a best seller in America and abroad. It made her a star. In Europe\, she met women and men who appreciated her intellect\, and her knowledge of arts and politics. They never thought that she was not a well-behaved woman. Suffragist Elizabeth Cady Stanton said\, "Margaret Fuller gave us the right to think."\n\n\n\nFuller is one of the great heroines of Women's History. Her life was buried in oblivion. This play shows the reason why. \n\n\n\nPresented by the Cape Rep BOLD Company\, this play will be read by 8 actors and 1 reader of stage directions. The play was written by Dina Walker-Harris\, a local Dramatist of stage and screen.
